Customer Reviews

Works pretty well for such a tiny thing4
I was looking for a good, bright flash light before going on my recent camping trip. After looking through Amazon, this little puppy caught my eye, and I ordered it. I got the light 2 days before the trip, but it would not work by turning. I went out and bought a universal ac/dc power adapter (which was more than the light itself) and charged it for a full night. Still, nothing. What's worse is that after about 2 minutes of cranking, the crank just wouldn't turn anymore. So as you can imagine, I was not happy and went on my trip with another light.

I contacted Kaito before I left and explained my situation, and when I got back, they had sent me a replacement light free of charge. Customer service was excellent, and they shipped the new one out very quickly. When I took apart the old one just to see what was wrong, I noticed that one wire had somehow came off inside, and that was the reason why the power was not flowing throughout.

The new light works just as described, and easily out lasted the 20 minute of charge it stated with 1 minute of cranking. The lights are pretty bright, but not as strong as a mag light for outdoor use. So I this would be perfect for doing small work outside, or in case of emergencies... but I wouldn't really rate it as a travel light (unless it's an emergency). The radio works well, and is quite loud and clear. I really like the small size of it, and glow in the dark label on the handle to help you easily locate it. Overall, I think this is a great product. For the price, you may as well buy 2 and keep it around your car and house.

Handy Dandy Crank Radio Light +++5
This is a fine compact handy [hand-fitting] radio-light. It's fairly small, but made with fairly strong molded hard plastic. It has an input-jack [USB/DC] for external recharging [and an output-jack for transfering charge], but I have found the fold-out hand-crank to be just fine. It has dual AM/FM radio reception with a fold-out telescopic antenna. The controls are fairly small, but can be gripped with gloves okay. You can switch between lo and hi beam -- using one or five bulbs -- which are mounted in a parabolic mirror for good directed intensity for the modest wattage of the little LED bulbs. It stands very well both horizontally and vertically and is well-balanced with a good carry-handle. Good for camping, searching and emergencies. Good quality for the modest price. By-the-way there are nearly identical models like this one still available from Kaito via Amazon -- I just got one of them +++

battery wears out1
Bought this a year ago. Worked great at first. After about a year it won't hold a charge. Crank and Crank and it will last about 45 seconds before going dead.
