Death takes no holidays.
So small it can't be seen with the naked eye.
So deadly it can wipe out millions in minutes.
If you breathe it, you're already dead...
A daring daylight prison break at a top security federal penitentiary frees the infamous "20th hijacker," the only 9/11 terrorist to miss his flight that September morning. It seems Mustafa Mohammed's been hiding a toxic secret right under the noses of federal authorities. Soon, hundreds start dying throughout the country; the CDC classifies the virus responsible as "UNKNOWN."
Luckily, Dr. Harold W. Smith always knows the most effective treatment for what ails America, and dispatches Remo Williams and his mentor, the magnificent Chiun, to administer the cure. But this time, the usual prescription might not be strong enough.
Remo wants to destroy the bio-weapon. The antiwar crowd wants to steal it, the Iranians want to duplicate it, and poor little Mustafa just wants to use it to obliterate an American city and please his supernatural boss: a sinister figure with a skull-like face hell-bent on eliminating mankind.
With millions of lives in the balance, this is one day the Destroyer can't call in sick.

Death is in the air
Remo battles terrorists who have a super bioweapon that may be more than Remo can deal with. In the meantime Chiun wants to take Remo and leave CURE and the US because of a mysterious supernatural figure who seems to be Death himself.
This latest edition of The Destroyer is another great adventure from the minds and processors of Jim Mullaney and Warren Murphy. These two know Remo and Chiun better than anyone and it certainly shows in Dead Reckoning. The satirical treatment of the anti-war sector harkens back to the early days of The Destroyer. The no-holds-barred action of Remo against the terrorists makes you wish we had a Remo to send after them for real. And the Remo-Chiun relationship, the thing that makes The Destroyer better than any of the other so called "men's adventure" books, is better than ever.
If you used to read The Destroyer but quit some time ago, you need to try again with this book. If you have never heard of Remo, then this is the book to read to get introduced. If you have always been a fan then you probably already have a copy, so go buy another one and give it somebody who needs a good read.
We found the WMD that wasnt in Iraq
Don't let the title fool you... this is not a mindless action paperback. The Destroyer series is a clever satire of pop culture & politics cleverly disguised as and action adventure book.
Very timely given world events, the plot moves along smartly, and the dialogues between characters is laugh out loud funny. Great read: easy to pick up, light reading.
Remo's Development
I like the new Direction that the series is taking and that Remo is getting more comfortable and developing more control over the power that his training has given to him plus the ennemy was a very interesting one to pit him against.
