Product Description

There has been a huge resurgence of interest in Dune Buggies (Beach Buggies) - kit cars based on the chassis and running gear of fatally corroded VW Beetles. Here is the complete step-by-step practical guide to the equipment and building techniques needed to build a Buggy, as well as sound guidance on the choice of donor car and new components. With this manual in your workshop, you can build any VW-based Dune Buggy avoiding all the common pitfalls and money-sapping mistakes, and end up with a superb, roadworthy multi-purpose vehicle.

Worth Having3
Good book. Goes into heavy detail on how to shorten the pan. But doesnt cover every area as well. Chapter on tools could have been left out, chances are if your going to build a buggy you already have the basic tools. I already built a buggy (prior to purchasing this book) so most of the information I already knew. Good book to have just for the pan shortening info. I welcome any new books written on the dunebuggy subject. Written in UK english.

Could do with a few more options.4
A well thought out and informative book. My only fault with it would be that it is very specific to the style of dune buggy that the author builds. My own research has revealed there are lots of different paths to take in building a dune buggy (not to mention baja bugs, all terain buggys, etc). A chapter covering these styles and where to find information on them would be a nice touch.

Lots of great tips and tricks and how to avoid mistakes makes it very true to its title. Has left me very satisfied with my purchase.

Too Euro-centered2
This would be a fine book for building a traditional Buggy in Europe, a large part of the book is concerned with sourcing parts in England. Here in the Northwest USA, building a traditional 70's style buggy is still within the reach of the average Joe. Parts can be scrounged, swapped, or made if you're building like Bruce Meyers did. And the more advanced 21st century buggies made to run hard and race offroad are barely mentioned.
