About the Author
J. Patrick Lewis is the award-winning author of more than 55 books for young people. His poetry and nonsense verse have appeared in dozens of magazines and more than 70 anthologies, and he is a contributor of children's book reviews for the New York Times. He lives in Ohio.

Keith Graves is the author-illustrator of several books for children including Frank Was a Monster Who Wanted to Dance and Pet Boy. He lives in Texas.

Easy to Read; Not That Attractive In the End Though
This book is ideal for children to read because the poems are fairly easy to read. I got this book mainly for the illustrator and hoped the poems would bring the images to life. Unfortunately, the poetry is bland which makes it difficult to keep a child's attention. So while I commend the book on its art and its delicate use of easy words, do not expect funny or clever poems to keep the kids entertained. The first reaction, usually, is that the kids are attracted to the colors, but begin reading and the interest quickly slips away. Great effort on the author's part! This would make a "safe" gift should you ever find yourself looking for a last minute book/gift.
