About the Author
Marion Dane Bauer is the author of many books for young readers, including the Newbery Honor book On My Honor and the New York Times bestseller My Mother Is Mine. Her other titles include A Mama for Owen, If You Were Born a Kitten, Grandmother's Song, and the forthcoming Thank You for Me! Marion is on the faculty of the Vermont College MFA program in writing for children and young adults. She lives in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and can be reached at mariondanebauer.com.  

Karen Katz has written and illustrated more than forty picture books and novelty books including the bestselling Where Is Baby's Belly Button? After graduating from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, she attended the Yale Graduate School of Art and Architecture where she became interested in folk art, Indian miniatures, Shaker art and Mexican art. Her book, Counting Kisses, was a Children's Book-of-the-Month Club Main Selection and an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio 2002 Gold Seal Award Winner. Adorable!
Similar to Karen Katz' 'Where is Baby's Belly Button', 'Toes, Ears & Nose' is a delightful book that allows little ones to 'find' noses, toes and tummies, this time by lifting flaps in a 'peek-a-boo' kind of way. My 14 month old enjoys this book, especially now since we are mastering where noses and toes are on ourselves. Very sweet indeed.

Great illustrations, but flimsy flaps
My son really loves this book with its colorful pictures, but I need to keep it out of his hands if I want the flaps to stay put.

Each page has a sentence, the first part is on the page and the last part is on the cardboard flap when you lift it. For example, "In my boots I've got" is written on the page. You lift up the cardboard boot flap and it says, "toes" and toes are revealed on the page. The flaps are made of very thin cardboard and bend or get folded easily. Also, they are not glued on very securely. A small portion is adhered to the page and they can easily be ripped off. If this happens, it's still a good book to look at, but the last part of the sentence has disappeared with the flap.

This book is for babies to look at, but not touch.

Great book, but...
My ten month old loves his Karen Katz books (we have four of them). He loves to lift the flaps as we go, but sometimes he gets excited and tears them right off -- the flaps are paper thin in this book. It seems like we're always repairing them. But that's the only downside...the illustrations are colorful and we always touch his nose when we get to the nose page and his ears, etc and he giggles. They're very cute books. I just wish they were sturdier.
