Beautiful illustrations
The best thing about this book is the stunning photography. It starts out with some basics talking about the various types of barware and garnishes. The book is then divided by the time of day. It gives recipe for non-alcoholic and alcoholic breakfast drinks and a couple of recipes of what would go with them food wise. It then goes on to cover lunch and dinner. The recipes are simple. There are a few recipes that I thought I might try. As far as a drink book goes, you get a lot more in an actual bar book. If all you want is just a sampling of drinks this book would be good for you.
A Winning Cookbook
Slurp is so much fun that I can't wait to drink it all up. I love every sip of this book from cover to cover, each and every recipe looks delicious and I adore all the tidbits in between: tips, tricks and fun lists of great reasons to host a cocktail party. Slurp would make a terrific gift book for any occasion, just be sure to buy one for yourself. This book is a gem of drinks, food and fun and one that must be soaked up immediately.
Gorgeous Book for Party Time!
Slurp is a gorgeous book!
Recipes for smoothies, non-alcoholic drinks and (mostly) cocktails are presented, one recipe per page, with artistic photographs of the finished drink in a lovely presentation. The drinks are shown with fancy glasses, garnishes and so on.
The book is divided by breakfast, lunch, afternoon drinks and cocktails. Each section has about a half dozen food recipes to go along with drinks for that time of day. Those food items are gourmet recipes which I would say are intended to use for a party at that time of the day to be eaten along with some of the drinks whose recipes are in this book. The food items are more fancy than most of us would eat at regular meals except for the tomatoes with olive oil, the simplest recipe in the book.
This book is lovely and inspiring. It is a perfect gift for a bridal shower, along with a set of fancy drink glasses, or for a housewarming gift for a couple buying their first home. It is just right for a gift for any person who does not yet own a book of drink recipes. It would also make a lovely hostess gift.
It seemed to me that most of the drinks were alcoholic cocktails. If you are looking for a book with mostly smoothies and health drinks or drinks for children, look elsewhere.
If you already own a book of cocktail recipes (or two or three) then this book may not give you much new information but it surely will provide you with eye candy that inspires you to want to throw a party.
The high point of this book is its lovely photographs of the drinks, the fantastic photography and the artistic presentation of the book. It is very well done.
The book is inspiring and had me wishing to try a few right then and there and also thinking that maybe it is time to host a party with a little food and some cocktails!
