Product Description

200 time-saving recipes from bestselling cookbook author and Food Network celebrity chef Robin Miller that allow you to "Quick Fix It" your way to get home-cooked meals on the table every night, no matter what your schedule.Robin to the Rescue contains recipes organized by course/main ingredient so you can find recipes for what you're in the mood for fast. For ease of planning, each recipe says how long it will take to prep, active cooking time, and walk-away time (the time a dish can be left to cook without your supervision). A new feature for this book will be that each recipe will allow you to Quick Fix it your way, namely it will tell you how a particular recipe can be turned into a Meal Kit; prepared in a slow cooker; doubled up so you can bank a batch in your freezer for nights when you have no time for meal preparation at all, aside from pushing buttons on the microwave; and/or morphed into another meal you can enjoy later in the week. Robin to the Rescue is a uniquely versatile book, allowing the reader to tailor recipe prep to her own particular needs.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
The host of the Food Network's Quick Fix Meals has gathered 200 recipes and a host of tips for time-pressed home cooks who want healthy, tasty weekday meals with minimal prep time. Her solution: a strategic approach by way of shopping in bulk, cooking large batches and storing them until it's time for a quick thaw, and being flexible about what's for dinner. Key concepts include Make It a Meal Kit (chop vegetables, marinate meat and freeze until it's time to cook and serve) and Bank a Batch (double recipes, use the extra later). Miller also recommends slow-cooking and getting creative with substitutions. The nutritionist and author of six cookbooks provides recipes for soups, starters, salad, poultry, meats, fish and dessert. There's a healthy emphasis on flavor and variety—and plenty of vegetables and fruit. In each section, Miller assesses various foods' Quick-Fix-ability and shares favorite entrée-and-side-dish combinations. The index allows for searching by main ingredient, marinade, technique and more. It's a well-rounded resource for super-busy sorts who are organized enough to plan, shop and prepare meals in advance. Review
Set the timer for seven minutes. That's how long it'll take to have dinner on the table if you follow Robin Miller's "Make a Meal Kit" strategies in her new book "Robin to the Rescue: Quick & Simple Ideas for Delicious Home Cooking." The New York Times best-selling author and Food Network star of "Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller" provides do-ahead strategies for chopping, marinating and prepping, so that when dinnertime comes, you can have the meal on the table in no time. She also shows how to double a recipe and pop the extra in the freezer for another day. --The Modesto Bee (CA)

Cookbook author, nutritionist and Food Network Quick Fix Meals host Robin Miller's mission is to help busy cooks get meals on the table. Her new book, Robin to the Rescue: Quick & Simple Ideas for Delicious Home Cooking (Taunton Press, $18.95), offers not only recipes but strategies to streamline your weeknight dinner routine. --Star-Telegram (Fort Worth, TX)

Miller writes from experience as a busy mom, author and Food Network star. She has served up an essential guide for getting weeknight meals to the table quickly -- no fuss, no stress -- in this manual. Each recipe includes prep time, active cooking time and "walk away time" -- the food cooks without supervision while you spend time with your kids or do other things. Especially helpful are added tips following each recipe: Make a Meal Kit, start meal when you have time, package it and complete closer to serving time; Bank a Batch, double the recipe and store in refrigerator or freezer -- eliminating prep time when serving at a later date; Morph It, turn leftovers into delicious new dishes; and Have It Your Way, take recipes you love and switch some of the ingredients for a new slant. Some recipes call for five ingredients or less -- and almost all ingredients and directions are on one page. Miller also shows how to switch some chicken/meat recipes to vegetarian dishes. Trained as a nutritionist, she emphasizes healthful eating (lots of fresh veggies and fruits) but her bottom line is serving delicious and flavorful food. --El Paso Times (TX)

I knew once I seen she was coming out with another book I just had to get it. I like this one just as much as her first one. The recipes are so easy and full of flavor.

Love it!4
I guess I'm a little confused with the negative reviews for this book. I love it just as much as Robin Miller's first cookbook. I agree that some of the ingredient combinations sound odd, but every recipe that I've tried has been wonderful. This cookbook allows me to create home-cooked meals in a relatively short amount of time, and everyone loves them! I really appreciate that most of the ingredients lists are either fairly short or mainly rely on pantry staples that I always have. This cookbook is helping me keep grocery costs down as prices rise (even as I've had to give up some of my other favorite cookbooks because of the prices of required ingredients). Strongly recommended for adventurous eaters with smaller budgets and little time. :)
