With this versatile cutting disc, you'll create 1/4-inch square strips of potatoes, zucchini, and turnips for deep frying or baking, coarsely chop tomatoes and onions for salsa, make sticks of celery and carrots and other vegetables for salads and crudités, and cut strips of fruits for salads and preserves. The raised shelf behind the cutting blade prevents slices from colliding with the disc itself, providing perfect, uniform strips every time. The disc slots easily onto the detachable disc stem, but be sure to handle it carefully, as these blades are very sharp. --Jennifer Harris

Disc cutter3
Disc cutter works on vegetables well, but I would like to have a larger, possibly an 8by8mm, opening for larger french fries.

Slightly disappointed3
I purchased this hoping to make homemade french fries and sweet potato fries. I used it immediately but was slightly disappointed in how thin the potatoes came out. I was expecting the fries to be more like a crinkle cut thickness and this was more of a shoestring size. I personally feel the discs should be cheaper or more of them included in the original purchase of your Cuisinart as they are pricey. I have the 14 cup model and the discs are all very expensive, especially when you realize that they don't quite meet up to what you expected, therefore, you are less apt to use it. I would consider this more of a julienne cut rather than a french fry cut.

Good for skinny fries4
This disc quickly whipped out shoestring fries. Works great. I'd also like to have a disc that made slightly larger fries too though.
