Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Even though it includes some of the same songs, this isn't the Time-Life Christmas collection advertised annually on TV. It's actually a budget version of that anthology, and not a bad deal at all. Some may argue it's missing the two Elvis Presley tracks found on the three-CD TV version. Others will contend that any self-respecting Christmas music aficionado probably already owns (or should own) Elvis's wonderful '57 Christmas Album. What's attractive about this one is it gathers a lot of classic singular performances in one place--a tad too much Bing Crosby, perhaps, but also the original hit versions of "Jingle Bell Rock," Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby," Burl Ives's "Holly Jolly Christmas," and the Drifters' "White Christmas" (the blueprint for Elvis's version). This is a terrific cross section of seasonal sounds. --Bill Holdship

Customer Reviews

Solid Tradition5
This CD is a "must-have" in anyone's Holiday music collection because it contains practically every "classic" version of your Holiday favorites. There is even the almost impossible to find " Little Drummer Boy" duet by Bing Crosby and David Bowie for that all important "where did you find that?" cachet at your Holiday Party. Heck, it will make you feel cool on a 95 degree day! The sound quality is amazingly good considering that some of the songs were recorded decades before the digital age.

Good Memories5
This CD has a good selection of traditional Christmas songs from the original artists that I remember from my childhood. You know, when it was still OK to say "Merry Christmas" to someone on the street. I played this CD and the other Time-Life Christmas CD all December long. I want my kids to have these songs as their Christmas memories as I do.

Not what I wanted2
The CD - Treasury, from Time-Life was not the one I wanted. I wanted the first Time Life Christmas collection.
