Amazon.com Review
Lunch takes on a whole new dimension with this sandwich grill. Layer cheese, tuna, veggies, mushrooms, or whatever is desired between slices of bread, set on the deep-pocket grill, and close and lock the lid. Sandwiches come out perfectly browned and sealed, with a diagonal indentation making them easy to slice in half. The grill cooks one or two sandwiches at a time, and also turns out waffles and omelets. The nonstick finish keeps food from sticking, although a little butter or oil also helps. A red light comes on when the grill is plugged in and heating up; a green light announces the grill is ready to use. To clean, simply wipe off the grill plates when cool. The grill measures 9 by 9 by 3-1/2, and is covered by a three-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Designed By Marquis de Sade2
This is one of the most annoying and badly designed machines of its kind.

It is this side of un-cleanable.

An odd size, but quick to do what it should do. But it is the aftermath!!!

Cleaning it takes more time than preparing and cooking. And in the end, the cleaning is always difficult and usually unsatisfactory because of the silly and thoughtless design which must be by someone who has: 1. never cooked, and 2. never cleaned.

This should only be sold at S&M sandwich shops.

Great for Quesadillas But not Much Else2
I bought this appliance a couple of years ago. I used it only rarely, then discovered I could make quesadillas with it (as long as the tortilla is folded in half) and began using it regularly. Food tends to stick -- despite the "non-stick" surface -- and so of course, the thing is incredibly difficult to clean. I could deal with the cleaning task. But, all of a sudden, large flakes of teflon began coming off. I reported this to Cuisinart, asking if I could purchase replacement plates. The answer was no. They also didn't offer to replace the unit. So, I threw it away. I generally like Cuisinart products. I will not again purchase a product that has a non-stick surface

Non-stick coating comes off1
I've now gone through 2 of these in 18 months. The non-stick surface chips off easily and I did not use a metal utensil on it. It just seemed to rub off while I was cleaning. We got a few good months out of both of them, but for now I don't want to serve my children chipping teflon (or whatever it is) in their grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm sure I could send it back for another one from Cuisinart (which I did w/the first one) but I think I will try another brand.
