Customer Reviews

Great design overall, needs a better sealing gasket3
I loved my Kuhn-Rikon 5 L pressure cooker so much I bought this braiser as well, thinking it would be great to have a smaller, more versatile option. If it worked like the other one did, this would be true. The trouble is that this is a wider pot, and they have switched to a thinner rubber gasket in the meantime. I don't get a proper seal with this cooker unless I oil the gasket profusely; a less thorough oiling means leaks and no pressure buildup. K-R didn't answer my inquiry about this. I would like to get an old-style thick black gasket to try, but they are another $20 or so--and the cooker was very expensive to start with! I still give this 3 stars based on my previous very positive experience with this brand of cooker, and for its excellent construction (I'm counting on a new gasket doing the job). However if you are looking for your first pressure cooker, skip this one and look instead for a good deal on a larger capacity, smaller diameter Kuhn-Rikon.
