This grater measures 8-1/2 inches long at its smallest length for handheld grating and extends to 12 inches for balancing over a bowl and grating directly into the dish you’re preparing. Made of 18/10 stainless steel, the tool has a fine grating surface on one side for citrus zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, or garlic and a coarser side for grating hard cheese, chocolate, or vegetables. Its Accutec blade is photo-etched rather than stamped like most grating blades. As such, the blade is extremely sharp and holds its edge over time. This blade also glides through food without tearing or shredding, retaining the food’s fresh flavor. Nonslip rubber pads coat the handles on either end to prevent slipping. One of my favorite gadgets!
This sounds silly, but I look for reasons to grate cheese since having this nifty grater. I now grate parmesan for the kids' spaghetti, make tastier quesadillas, and more. It's razor sharp, but the way it "hugs" a bowl makes it feel safe and sturdy. I bought four as Christmas gifts this year.
