Product Description

This reusable bread bag keeps fresh bread machine loaves fragrant and rustic loaves fresh for days. It's designed for practicality, with a wide, easy-access opening and velcro closure. When not in use, it folds down smaller than a breadbox.
Pre-shrunk and colourfast. Made of 7.5 ounce twill cotton/polyester in natural-colour canvas, with a thick-gauge polyethylene plastic lining for air-tightness. The combined strength of these two layers make the bag reusable for years.
Dishwasher and machine washable.

A COMMON SENSE STORAGE BAG FOR BREAD5
THERE ARE BREADBOXES. BREADBOXES. AND MORE BREADBOXES. ALL STORE MOLD. THIS WONDERFUL LITTLE BAG DOES NOT STORE MOLD. I KEEP MY LOAF IN THE FRIDGE TO PREVENT MOLD. I SEARCHED FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR YEARS. IT IS WASHABLE AND THE PLASTIC LINER KEEPS THE BREAD SOFT AND FRESH WHETHER IN OR OUT OF THE FRIDGE . WONDERFUL. BUY IT!

great gift item5
This is a useful item, a great gift because bags like these are hard to find.

Doesn't work miracles3
I purchased this item based on a review at cooksillustrated-dot-com (search for keyword "retrogradation" if you want to know more). Cooksillustrated thought this product was the best of the lot they tested and said it'd keep homemade bread crusts crisp and the loaf fresh for up to three days. The claim that crusts would stay crisp especially interested me.
The bag doesn't work miracles and disappointingly, doesn't keep crusts crisp. Compared to leaving my homemade or store-bought artisanal bread in a leaky plastic box, there was a small but definite improvement in quality on day one after baking/purchasing, but the crusts are definitely not crisp. By day three (just as the cooks illustrated article says) you need to freeze the bread and reheat it.
It's somewhat hard to clean b/c there are all sorts of folds in which crumbs can be trapped. You're supposed to be able to put it in the washing machine or dishwasher. Mine survived the washing machine (in a lingerie bag), but the moisture trapped between the plastic bag and the cloth bag is hard to get rid of (hair dryer time).
If your family is like mine, polishing off your homemade bread within a day or two of baking, this bag will help maintain freshness. I give it 3.5 stars for performance (on day one after baking, 4 stars for freshness, but 0 on the crisp crust promise) and 2 stars for being wildly overpriced (see my image in the customer image gallery).
