Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
The CEPCO Tool IK-10 Insul-Knife saves the frustration builders often experience when working with insulation. With the Insul-Knife you may cut through fiberglass insulation one clean slice. It is ideal for precision cutting of fiberglass and foam boards and, or course, insulation! The razor sharp blade eliminates the insulation tear that is common when cutting with a utility knife.
Customer Reviews
Good Tool but needs to be sharpened better
This is a well made tool overall. Although it does not tell you in the description - it does come with a sort of sheath/edge guard.
I was disappointed that the edge was not sharpened very well when I received the tool. It had a very heavy burr on it that had to be sharpened off to make the tool usable.
If you plan on buying this tool make sure you can sharpen it before taking it on a job site.
Why didn't I find this 30 years (and 4 houses ago?)
The first cut I made with this knife in a fiberglass bat I almost wanted to build another house so I could use it more.(I am 99% done with the present and last one).I install my own insulation ,even though I hire out everything else, because it is the only way to get a nice job ,with tight fitting seams. The clever curved blade design causes the insulation to be sheared like a scissors does.Since the whole length of blade cuts ,rather than a very short length using a conventional knife, the blade stays sharp longer.
Insul knife
After years of cutting insulation with a utility knife I have to say this product is wonderful. This knife is a great time saver. Try it and you will see.
HOWEVER---I was not satisfied with how sharp the blade was.
I sent it to a sharpening shop to put a proper edge on it.
That's all.
