Rabbi Jeffrey K. Salkin is widely recognized for his work in putting the spiritual meaning back into bar and bat mitzvah. Spiritual leader of The Community Synagogue in Port Washington, New York, Rabbi Salkin is the author of Putting God on the Guest List: How to Reclaim the Spiritual Meaning of Your Child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah and the young person's companion volume, For Kids--Putting God on Your Guest List; and Being God's Partner: How to Find the Hidden Link Between Spirituality and Your Work.

Nina Salkin is a former advertising creative director whose writing addresses social, political, and religious topics. Her work has appeared in the Forward, the New York Times, and Reform Judaism magazine. The Salkins and their two sons, one a bar mitzvah and the other eagerly looking forward to it, live in Port Washington, New York.
