About the Author
James Franklin Fitts was born in New York in 1839. An attorney in 1860, he entered the Civil War in 1861 as a Private and was promoted to rank of Captain in 1863. After the war, he became a law partner and continued his writing as a journalist and writer of fiction. Mr. Fitts died on January 11, 1890 at the age of 51, from a heart condition related to his war wounds, two years after "Captain Kidd's Gold" was published.
Natalie West Evans, editor of "Captain Kidd's Gold" and homeschool mother of 4, discovered "Captain Kidd's Gold" in an antique store in 1998 and began research to revive this great book to get a 2nd edition out to the public
