Product Description

Islands are unique - their very isolation allows them to be different. Unforgettable Islands to Escape to Before You Die takes you to the most spectacular islands on the planet. Some are remote, others you will never have heard of. Some are more familiar but are shown in a way that will surprise and intrigue you. From the ancient rock island of Kubu in the middle of a salt pan in Botswana, to thriving Hong Kong Island; from the quiet remoteness of the Stockholm Archipelago to the frenetic festival on Sagar Island in the Ganges in India and even from the snowy wastes of Svalbard in the high Arctic to the deserted shores of Socotra off the coast of Yemen this book will show you a world you probably never knew existed but won't be able to resist exploring. Brought to you by the same team as the internationally bestselling Unforgettable Places to See Before You Die, this lavishly illustrated and evocatively written book that will educate and inspire both the experienced and armchair traveller alike.

Editorial Reviews

Review
'Inspiring, well-written and well put together.' [Unforgettable Journeys] ', Geographical ."This beautifully illustrated book [Unforgettable Journeys] includes journeys that will satisfy the adventurer in all of us. Tracking mountain gorillas in Rwanda? No problem. Shackleton's voyage to Antarctica? Piece of cake. There are practical details if you want to tackle any of the trips. For the less intrepid there are journeys closer to home - walking with Wordsworth in England and a horse-drawn wagon trip around Ireland.", Sunday Telegraph ."This book [Unforgettable Things] does exactly what it says on the tin: it is packed with gorgeous images of places that you really, really want to visit - and makes you slightly hate the authors for having been able to do all these things ... And since more of us are eschewing beach holidays and choosing trips with a life-changing experience built in, it can almost be seen as a tick-list for the get-up-and-go crowd.", Nicki Symington, Observer ."With 40 recommendations, the great photos and inspirational text of this book crystallise exactly what we all love about travel.", Wanderlust
