Customer Reviews
Portability king, but where's middle-click?
If you're looking for a portable mouse, this is a great choice. The low profile on the receiver is the next best thing to built-in. The mouse is light, accurate, has decent software that allows remapping controls, and is loads better than the touchpad. Which I loathe. The biggest problems for me: (1)middle-mouse-click doesn't behave as expected. On click, it changes from a free scroll to a traditional click-scroll. (Free scroll is great for long webpages or excel. Click scroll is good for everything else.) However, middle-mouse-click doesn't register as an input in the same way to windows. The lack of a middle mouse input hurts the usability of this a lot, as I've had to reassign some of the other buttons on the face of the mouse to middle-click, to try to replicate the functionality. (2) The other buttons are placed on the side of the mouse on the upper left edge. You can probably see them in the picture. The placement is pretty bad. This compounds my middle mouse click complaint. :(
If you don't use the extra buttons on the mice, this would be a great choice. If you value portability over everything else, this is a good choice.
Great mouse - except for one fatal flaw
This mouse is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, except for one fatal flaw. After several weeks of use, the mouse began scrolling randomly. It's very sporadic, but trying to read a document while it is acting up is nearly impossible. The screen just keeps scrolling randomly.
I called Logitech, and they were very helpful, making sure I had up-to-date firmware, and finally sending me a brand new mouse with no hassle. The new mouse has the same problem, however. The problem seems to be software related, because the random scrolling seems to happen even when I'm not touching the mouse, although heavy mouse use aggravates the problem.
I gave 3/5 only because the mouse is so nice otherwise (smooth action, good software, no connection problems, sleek design...), and Logitech's customer support was so smooth. This problem is really a dealbreaker for me, though, because it's a fundamental flaw in basic functionality. Hopefully they'll release a driver update to fix the problem.
Good Mouse
This makes for an excellent mouse; however, if you are hoping to also use it as a clicker during presentations be warned that it has an itchy trigger finger. You will need to practice beforehand if you want to avoid skipping slides.
