So it's been so long since the last list, these won't be in anything close to order. I'll at least try to post the ones from Minnesota first...in this case, a Russian author's book of short stories, some amazing, some ok, all interesting.

Read it while stuck in the music dept. at the old B&N, Zinn has lots of great points that make you think, and references many amazing books, including the next one...

Certainly interesting, but I think I learned more about the time it was written than what it is actually like to lose a loved one.

Didn't finish it, but there is a wealth of amazing material here, from people who lived through the depression on the front lines, and not just rich bankers who jumped out of windows (though I suppose they didn't live through it...never mind.)

Another music department read. It's got some very informative tables, I'll tell ya that much.

Difficult to read at times, but well worth it if you have any interest in Vietnam. Inspiration for Full Metal Jacket.

Deserves all the hype. Haven't grown up a poor girl in the early 20th century in Brooklyn, but I can tell this is just what it would be like. Didn't want it to end.

Can't forget this one. Why can't newer manga be more like this? Actually, maybe some is. I don't know. Gritty!

Great autobiographical short stories. Bondage, crappy jobs, being homeless, all written about so well that you kinda want to do it all.

Mostly got this for "The Invention of Solitude," an amazing account of Auster dealing with his father's death, but it's all interesting and worth reading. It only costs like $2 more than the invention of solitude by itself.
