Hart's book (first published in Britain in 1995) is true to its title; it is an introduction to theology as "faith thinking" or, more specifically, faith seeking an understanding. This is hardly a new paradigm for theology, but it is a relevant one as theology seeks to find its way as an academic discipline in a postmodern world. The book grew out of lectures to undergraduate students of theology in a university setting, but its value is not limited to an academic audience.
