Customer Reviews
terrific little book!
my sons + i love this book and card set. the book has easy instructions for many games i've never even heard of, as well as old favorites. the cards are big in the hand, which is a wee bit annoying, but they are color-coded for each suite, which is great for young children who have a hard time with differentiating the symbols.
fun for all ages too
This little book should not be underestimated for two reasons. First of all, there are so many games, that you are sure to find a couple that click with your interest whether by theme or difficulty level. Secondly, it promotes an activity that has a visceral joy: handling real physical cards and interacting with real people in real time.
At a recent family gathering, we played several games from this book with nephews, aunts and uncles. The games "Spit" and "Beggar They Neighbour" were the top favorites, with the latter getting the most plays. Spit is a real-time game requiring quick-response (like a shared solitaire), while Beggar is totally luck (no decisions) yet somehow evoking a sense of tension and triumph.
The Book of Cards for Kids
I have had this book for years having purchased it for my grandchildren when they were younger. Recently my neighbor had her grandchildren here at the beach and they used it. So, this purchase was made by me for two of my neighbors. It is great for children.
