i will not waste your time detailing what an exceptional work this is... it is the best graphic novel i have yet to read and it is easily one of the best pieces of fiction i have ever experienced.

while the dark knight movie really does stand on it's own as an amazing piece of fiction as well as an incredible addition to the batman mythos, this book comes as close as any could to being called source material for that movie and in particular for the character of the joker in that film.

with incredible characterization and wonderful story telling the entire series so far has been a joy to read. i recommend the whole series but especially to anyone who is interested in a twist on the usual superheroics.

as with many of my previous entries i recommend the whole series, though some books are better than others. this is particularly good and does a fantastic job of putting a twist or two on familiar themes.

i am not a fan of superman. i am as familiar with the character as anyone and maybe moreso as a comic fan. however, this is such an incredibly fun book to read. it has a lot of emotion and really feels like it captures the lost essence of the character.

i liked the movie very much but the book is not exactly the same and in my opinion, while the essence was captured, the book is far and away a much more engrossing tale.

it is a book like this one that shows how even a tried and true set up can feel completely fresh with some good writing and some great twists.

this has the feel of a disney cartoon gone all wrong... but in all the right ways (if that makes any sense) the story is very loosely based on true events and while a story with talking lions (they really only talk to themselves and the other animals) may not sound like your cup of tea, i assure you, by the end of the book you will find yourself attached to these characters.

this book really surprised me. there is so much more than even what makes it's way into the book that you will find yourself thinking about this one long after you turn the final page.

this is a good example of a book that, while not exceptional, was unique enough and made with enough care and consideration that i really felt it was worth reading. this is not something that everyone has read, but it is something that those of us who have read many of the books off of these "best" lists might find worth while.

the end of every zombie movie feels the same to me... "now what?" this series attempts to keep the story going and does so with enough twists and surprises that it never gets stale. great series, period.

this series; more than any other i have read, feels like a really great movie. the events are all leading us to an ending but it is the journey and the characters (yorick in particular) that make it great.
