Customer Reviews

No fun on the beaches5
Spazzzzzed out synth-ridden electro new wave violence...I have no idea where other reviewrs got the Minutemen comparisons from. Le Shok is best comparable to LA punk legends The Screamers, mixed with Killed By Death punk comps, an adolescence of underage drinking, and a blistering hatred of really boring 90's emo. Singer Hott Rodd Todd is a rambling, unrestrained record-filching junkie, Brett is probably a cutter, and the kids knew they better damn well uncross their arms.

This is Le Shok's only CD release. A singles collection has been in the works for years, but it'll probably never materialize. Unfortunately, their 7" records (and a 6") are fairly pricey, cuz the kids love these dudes, but that shouldn't stop you from downloading them. Also, there's what seems like a hundred bands that formed out of the ex-Le Shok members, most memorably Neon King Kong and the Distraction. FM Bats is pretty good too.

Is this supposed to be punk rock?2
What is this recording supposed to be? The Germs? The Stitches? Give me a break. Just because they work at Zed Records doesn't mean they know punk rock any more than the average mall rat. They have an expensive recording studio and they still put out stuff that sounds like this because they're "lo-fi" and "punk". They care more about their looks than Justin Timberlake, is that supposed to be a good thing? They are so "different" with their vintage clothes and Spock haircuts. Are rich suburban punk rockers the new trend? Obviously, judging by the other reviews here

Offend Someone!5
This is the ultimate punk record. The cover art alone is worth the cost of this. Le Shok was the snottiest buch of drunks whoever tried to play music. Hot Rod Todd is the name of the lead singer, his name alone should hint at what kind of antics these guys pulled. Fighting the audience, a split 7" with the awesome Ink and Dagger, and getting banned at various LA clubs. This is the type of band you play to ... off the nerdy kids who are in the scene.
They have thick bass, chessy synth, and a germs meets the stitches feel.
