Double-sided design allows you to use it for either infeed or outfeed applications, regardless of which way the material is being fed. It works on the jointer for both table and fence. Switchable magnets allow you to position or relocate the featherboard anywhere on a steel table without clamps or a miter track. Outstanding safety accessory...
Magswitch universal feather board

Before trying this product, I was concerned about its two magnets being sufficiently strong to keep it from moving. Not a problem. Those magnets hold onto a table saw's cast iron table as though they were locked in place. This feather board stays put as the wood piece slides by.

Unscrew the knobs a half turn and the magnet's pull is completely released. Turn the knobs clockwise a quarter turn, and you can't move the feather board. It even holds when directly over the 3/4" slot on table saws. This product is made tough, for frequent use in a workshop. Simple design, effectively executed, in a quality product.

For decades, I've been using the type of feather boards that tighten in the 3/4" wide table slot. Their fatal flaw is, if the piece to be cut is too wide to leave room to mount that feather board in the slot, it can't be used. That's not an issue with this product, as all it needs is a few inches of flat cast iron (or steel) to stick. Plus it works on either side of the blade. Setting it in place with the "fingers" slightly bent against the wood (to stop any kickback) takes about two seconds.

The Magswitch feather board lacks a built-in hold-down for the piece being cut. In spite of that, this is an excellent product. Highly recommended.


Note: If you're new to wood-working, the purpose of a "feather-board" is to press the wood against the tool fence so the cut is straight and to reduce the chance of a kick-back. If a kick-back occurs, a feather-board slows or stops the board from shooting backwards. Having a piece of wood "kick-back" toward you can be dangerous, as that wood can be moving at high speed.
