About the Author

Over the years, Mr. Hoyt has sailed, dived, searched, researched and wandered the Caribbean. In the course of researching Anne Bonny's life, he obtained a copy of the actual transcript of her trial in Admiralty Court on the island of Jamaica in 1720. Unlike court trials of today, the transcript is not verbatim, and is highly ornamented with flowery phrases and redundancies. Difficult to read, but accurate in so far as it went.

The author now divides his time between writing novels and traveling the world in search of stories and adventure.

Customer Reviews

A Lady Pirate5
A lively, brisk and detailed narrative. Anne Bonny is a little known pirate overshadowed by the "big names". The book is well written with great detail for this period of time. Especially, loved the scintillating sex scenes - satisfying- yet done in good taste. I look forward to more books from Mr. Hoyt.

Couldn't put it down5

Wonderful plot driven adventure. The kind of story you look forward all day to getting back to. Lively characters, lively lives. Anne is a strong woman, indomitable, an inspiration to down-trodden women.

Get Known Facts Correct!2
It seems that with Mr Hoyt's travels that he'd get his facts (vs myths) straight about Anne Bonny (or: Bonney). The back cover says Mr. Hoyt actually got a COPY of the transcripts of Anne's trial. THAT'S NO BIG DEAL! You can get that off the internet EASILY! A copy of that is probably for sale from every vendor selling cheap tourist items! AND...Anne's sentence to be hanged was NOT changed because she was pregnant! NO! SHE WAS TO BE HANGED AFTER SHE HAD HER BABY! Both Mary Reade, Anne's best friend and fellow pirate, was pregnant too. They were BOTH to be hanged after giving birth. Mary died before giving birth to her baby. It is true that there is no record of Anne giving birth or anything about her death. It is a mystery. Although her father was as aristocrat and the Jamaican Prime Minister was in deep troubles financially. Anne's father MAY have been able to buy her freedom. No one knows. For me, A MUCH better "read" is "PIRATE SPIRIT" by Jeffery S. Williams!! BY FAR the best novel about Anne Bonney and the others in her life I've EVER read! That book takes you from about age 6-21 of Anne's life, gives a plausible outcome to what happened to her after the trial and imprisonment, and is written from ANNE"S POINT OF VIEW! I've given that as a gift to so many people and they have all LOVED IT! I like to follow authors and there is a "buzz" that there is a screenplay now finished for "PIRATE SPIRIT". I do know that the way it was written was very cinematic indeed! If you want to read a historical novel that's an awesome story, get "PIRATE SPIRIT, not this one!
