Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
Tempting soups, rich sauces, succulent seafood, and pasta are all reasons to need a stockpot. Versatile and necessary, this 16-quart workhorse comes in handy for numerous culinary situations, and its size is ideal for a larger family or--if entertaining--a medium-to-large group. The pot is made of 18/10 stainless steel and its tight-fitting lid helps to keep moisture in, preventing vitamins and the flavors of the foods from escaping. Aesthetically, this professional looking cookware will nicely complement many different kitchen styles. --Teresa Simanton

When nothing less than 4 gallons of gumbo will do...5
Okay, I'll admit that I'm a bit biased towards Farberware in the first place, but with this pot they've done just about everything right. The aluminum slug sealed into the base makes for very even heating, which is important since it's wider than most burners. And it holds up to high heat well - I've been browning meat and making roux in mine for a few years now. The lid is snug enough without being a pain and the loop handles are nice - the smaller Classic series stock pots have the molded plastic ones instead. The only thing I'd change in the design of the pot is to use a brushed finish - I tend to prefer that over chrome because any chrome pot that I use very often ends up with a patina of scratches anyway, and I prefer that they all run in the same direction. But who's complaining? This pot performs where it counts - it heats quickly and evenly and has taken quite a beating over the years without so much as a ding.

Proven in use5
This pot is PERFECT for making homemade pasta for a moderate to large sized crowd.

The heavy base and large capacity means when you plunge in a plate of still-moist homemade spagetti, the water keeps boiling, or returns to a full boil within a minute or so. Ours has stayed beautiful in our active kitchen for over a year despite constant use and frequent washing.

This is my favorite large kettle.

I can think of NOTHING wrong with this pot.

Update: 4/2005 (a year later) - This is STILL the perfect pot for cooking large batches of pasta and two-chicken soups.

Update 5/2008 (4 years later) - Still looks as good as new, and works just as well. We've given them as gifts, and they are always appreciated!

Great Value5
We bought both the 12 and 16 quart pots. We couldn't be happier. We have a large family and these sizes are great for pasta, sauce, corn, chili, BBQ...you name it. They are very sturdy, and the bottom is perfectly flat...something we need because we have a ceramic cooktop. They heat evenly and food doesn't stick. We were looking at pots that cost considerably more, but I'm glad we make the choice we did.
