Commentary on the Gospel of Thomas by the Palm Tree Garden's own Jeremy Puma!

Product Description

The Face of the Sky and Earth, a commentary on The Gospel of Thomas, originally appeared between and November of 2003 and March of 2005, on the "Fantastic Planet" weblog. Composed as an attempt to provide a cohesive collection of thoughts and meditations on that most prevalent of Gnostic scriptures, The Face of the Sky and Earth is designed to be useful instead of merely interesting, a work that addresses modern concerns within a Gnostic context, by a Gnostic, for people interested in Gnosticism.

Review
A must-read for anyone with a connection to early Christianity and Gnostic Inquiry. -- Father Jordan Stratford, Apostolic Johannite Church

From the Publisher
The mysterious 114 sayings found in the Coptic Gospel of Thomas continue to puzzle and enlighten readers in the sixty years since its discovery in the sands of Egypt. Attributed to Jesus Christ, and purportedly recorded by the Apostle Thomas, the sayings contain insights both startling and remarkable for their simplicity.

Now a noted Gnostic Minister involved in the modern Gnostic renascense presents a new translation of, and commentary on these esoteric words of Jesus. Brother Jeremy Puma, of the Palm Tree Garden Gnostic Community, investigates these sayings from a Gnostic standpoint. The resulting commentaries are lucid and insightful, surprisingly clear and startlingly useful.

Heavily influenced by Zen Buddhism and the writings of modern sci-fi author Philip K. Dick, the information contained in The Face of the Sky and Earth will get you thinking about Gnosticism in an entirely new way.

About the Author
Jeremy Puma has been a student of Gnosticism for over 12 years. Bro. Puma is the administrator and founder of the Palm Tree Garden Gnostic community, an on-and-offline collective of Gnostics from many different traditions. Bro. Puma's ministry consists of providing service and support to those who follow the Gnostic tradition as individuals due either to geographical circumstance or personal preference.

Bro. Puma has been writing about Gnosticism for the past few years on the Fantastic Planet weblog, and is the author of a number of books on the theory and practice of Gnosticism in the Twenty-First Century. His personal approach to Gnosticism is based on interpretation of the traditional Gnostic scriptures, such as those found in the Nag Hammadi Library, and a healthy dose of Mahayana Buddhism, which he considers a sister tradition to the organized pursuit of gnosis.

What more needs to be said about a man who can make a swarm of mosquitoes disappear by simply saying "These mosquitoes have to go." I was there, a witness to the feat.
