Amazon.com Product Description
Renowned worldwide for its high-quality French timepieces, Cartier proves once again it knows how to craft genius with its midsize Tank Francaise watch. The sophisticated timepiece is designed with a square stainless steel bezel, a stationary stainless steel bezel, and a flexible stainless steel link bracelet with a secure deployment clasp. A scratch-resistant sapphire window protects the square silvered white-grained dial face, which features black Roman numeral hour indexes and matching black minute indexes. Sword-shaped hands and the Cartier logo beneath the 12 o'clock position complete the elegant look. This watch is powered by a Cartier's own Calibre 175A Swiss-quartz movement and is water resistant to 99 feet.
The Cartier Story

By the early 20th century, Cartier had expanded its collection to include watches. At a time when pocket watches were still considered de rigueur for the distinguished gentleman, Cartier helped popularize the wristwatch, making it a bold fashion statement for men and women as well as a status symbol among the well-to-do. Louis Cartier is credited with creating the first men's wristwatch, the Santos, in 1904. He developed and named the watch for his client and friend, the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who needed a device that would allow him to read the time without taking his hands off the controls of his airplane.
Other classic designs followed, including Cartier's signature timepiece--the Tank--which debuted in 1917 during the First World War and was inspired by the tough new war machine the Americans introduced to the fighting in Europe. Cartier's first water-resistant watch was named after the Pasha of Marrakesh, who requested that Cartier create watch that he could wear while in his swimming pool and not lose track of time.
And while it is known more for its luxurious design, Cartier is also credited with creating the highly functional deployment folding clasp in 1910, which is now used by watchmakers around the globe.
Modern Cartier watchmakers still base their watch designs on the early fundamentals developed by Louis Cartier. Treasured by collectors, Cartier watches are distinguished by their impressive variety of shapes (round, square, oval, Tank, Tortue and Tonneau), by their exceptional materials and workmanship, and by their recognizable Cartier aesthetic, an elegant blend of classic and modern design.

Nightmare ~
Ordered this product online as a special birthday present. I received the item within three working days from Amazon; only to find that this item had been previously sold and reissued again. The watch is absolutely beautiful, but the bracelet clasp was defective (unable to fasten following the vendor's instructions). I received notification back from Amazon, they had received the watch back for a replacement; however, the notification referenced "battery dead" as the reason for the replacement. I wanted desperately to re-order, but I am sure they will simply re-issue the same watch back to me. Warning: do not try to resolve problems with Amazon online; I talked to more than three foreign speaking customer service agents (all very nice); however, it remains all talk and no action! You will NEVER have the opportunity to speak with anyone who has the ability to resolve problems. It is such a shame; the watch is beautiful.

i was really happy with my purchase from amazon. i saved approximately $1k off sticker price of this watch and then didn't have to pay tax and/or shipping. i love this classic design and am so glad i was able to get it at a great price and not have to worry about it being real. i took it to my local jeweler and told him where i got it-and said if it came from amazon itself, no worries.

Absolutely love it! Truly a beautiful classic yet modern piece. Brought to my jeweler to authenticate. It's a real Cartier and arrived within three days. Way to go Amazon!
