How to adjust the band
Contrary to the review from J. Welch, the band can be shortened, by removing one or more links. The links are held together by little pins, and you can remove a pin by pushing it in the direction of the arrows embossed on the wrist side of the links. I removed a pin by pushing it with an unwound paper clip, which I gripped in a pair of pliers to make it easier to hold. You need to remove two pins to remove one link. Then you hook the links back togther, and join them by pushing a pin back through the same holes in the other direction. You'll see which end needs to go in first -- the skinny end goes in first, and the fat (split) end holds it secure. You can make additional adjustments by moving the single spring pin that holds the band to the clasp.

Best of Timex
After 8-10 years of wearing this watch, I feel like I owe it a review. I'm actually on my third one; the first had the rubber links in the band that eventually broke, so I replaced it with a velcro band (not a great idea) and it was sucked off my wrist while swimming beneath the Pulhapanzak waterfalls in Honduras. The second one I broke the band on during rigorous use, and beings my second battery was dying, I replaced it with the third watch.

Very waterproof- great for swimming
Light is indiglo and bright enough to use as an emergency light to find unfamiliar doorknobs at night while traveling
Easy to read at a glance
Timer/stop watch intuitively set up

Cons:
Band is a little tricky to adjust (removing links) but can be done with a little practice
Has about 15 pins in the band that can be broken if enough effort is exerted
Depending on how you wear it, the light button can be pressed if you fold your hand back hard enough (I think they replace the face with the same scratch-proof glass used on iPhones and make the center touch sensitive for light control, ok, the might get expensive)

Great all around watch!
I had been looking for a metal digital watch for some time that was not ugly and had good functionality. This watch is all of those except the coloring on it could be a bit brighter (it's a bit dull). Anyway, you CAN adjust the bands and remove/put in links. I bought this at Walmart, and the lady did it right then and there for me. Poor lady: she kept on adjusting it and I kept on trying it on until it was perfect. This watch is easy to read. Also, everytime you hit a button on the main clock screen, the nightlight goes on, which wastes battery, which is not a big deal actually since watch batteries last 3 or more years. It has easy to push buttons and the watch is sturdy itself. Lightweight and flexible, this watch will work for almost anybody.
