Customer Reviews
An excellent book for writers of erotica!
If you struggle to keep redundancy out of your vocabulary, put this work on your bookshelf and you'll have more dirty words at your fingertips than you'll ever need! My only objection is that Peterkin doesn't really explore the rich, erotic vocabulary offered by many other languages. The book sticks to mostly English and French. All-in-all, a great book for writers!
Thorough Reference
This book includes the classy synonyms as well as the outdated, odd, eccentric, and tactless. Words and phrases are alphabetized in endless specific categories, so you're guaranteed to find just what you're looking for. Categories also include everything from references to genitalia and the sex act to the sex industry and sexual health and dysfunction.
The book is laced with vintage photographs, mostly erotic and some very tantalizing, which add to the character of the book itself and your browsing enjoyment. There's even some editorial comment inserting stories and histories of interest, but there generally isn't historical or origination information about the individual terms included.
It's an excellent resource for writers of erotica/porn: very thorough, easy to use, nice to look at, and with classy terms as well as the humorous ones.
A fun and informative guide to the language of sex.
This book is a fun and informative collection of words and phrases dealing with sex in the English language. In addition to collecting wild and raucous terms for everything sexual under the sun, it includes historical and cultural contexts as well as a number of archival "dirty" photographs that ultimately make the book a brilliant diversion perfect for cocktail-party chatter. I really enjoyed it.
