I wanted this for the longest time, BUT...
.... then I realized I had already been using a similar device that I had in my home - a fan! That's right, after months of using a fan pointed toward the wall (because I didn't want to get too cold at night), I realized it was all I needed! So, save your $ and use the electric fan you already own!!!

Love this machine!
I love this little "noisemaker" (as we have always called it!). This is the third one I've purchased since 1978. The original lasted till 1996 having been used every single night of that time and dropped many times. I replaced it, but ended up giving that one to my daughter when she went away to live in a college dorm. She still has it and uses it every night. I moved to Florida in 2001 and learned to sleep without it (which was hard, and took weeks). The only reason I didn't buy a new one was because my husband suggested we were addicted to it, and since our kids were all grown and gone and we lived in a quiet townhouse, we might try to go cold turkey. That was in 2001. A few weeks ago, a neighbor moved in who likes to play his stereo until about midnight, then turns it back on again at 5:30 AM. Talking to him hasn't helped, so I ordered a new little "noisemaker" and we are now sleeping soundly and happily addicted again. You never really lose that urge:)
Seriously, this is an example of an American made product that is of the highest quality. This is the best white noise machine ever made, believe me. It is practically indestructible. I hope the company that makes it never send production offshore to cut costs. I'd pay twice as much to get this quality. A great buy.

A Great Night's Sleep!
I saw (and heard) a Marpac SleepMate in my doctor's waiting room. It not only contributed to a soothing atmosphere, but pleasantly masked most of the conversations in the room. After ordering one and using it for a few months I am even more impressed. We have a noisy highway and train crossing about a block from the back of our home. I'm a very light sleeper and no matter what sound machine we tried, the traffic noise and train whistles kept me up at night. But the Marpac eliminates those disturbing outdoor noises, so I don't notice them. The sound it makes reminds me of a large box fan, but without the excessive energy consumption and powerful breeze those fans produce. I couldn't be happier with my Marpac. I hope it lasts a long time.
