Jesus promised His bewildered disciples that He would not leave them as orphans, but that He would pray to the Father who would send them another Comforter who would come alongside to help them and would abide with them forever. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would teach them all things and bring to their remembrance all the things that He had commanded them. In his warm personal style, Pastor Chuck Smith, a bible teacher for over 50 years, paints an intimate picture of the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. He is to conform you into the image of Christ. He is to come alongside of you to help you in your walk. He is to teach you all things. He is to give you an understanding of spiritual things. He is to give you the power to be a witness of Jesus Christ. There is a vast difference between being filled with the Holy Spirit and having the Holy Spirit flow forth out of your life like a torrent of living water. Pastor Smith will lead you step by step into this rich and intimate relationship with God which is made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit. You will experience the refreshing streams of living water filling your life then flowing forth from your life unto a thirsty world.

Living Water: The Power Of The Holy Spirit In Your Life is a practical, layman's guide to the Holy Spirit that addresses the vital questions: Who is the Holy Spirit and what does He do? What are the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how do they work? How can I plug into the Holy Spirit's power? How does the Holy Spirit guide us? Living Water gives a carefully balanced picture of the Holy Spirit and is written to give people a true understanding of how the Holy Spirit will enable them to become mature believers with a passion to reach out to others. Living Water is one of the most understandable and accessible works on the Holy Spirit published in several decades and splendid reading for all Christians from recent converts to experienced theologians. --Midwest Book Review

An oasis in the middle of the desert.
There are few books written in this life that are based on
"Truth."
This book is brimming with Truth. It's easy-to-read, life changing
and can put a believer, or a non-believer, quickly on the right
"path."
Being raised catholic when I was a child, I had no clue who the
Holy Spirit was. I thought it was this far away image of God in
bird form. I had no clue of the importance of the Holy Spirit in
my daily walk. (I was simply an ignorant man. But thanks to
this rare & inspired book -- I am ignorant no more.)
This book has opened up a new and improved Godly life for me
(both as a husband, and as a man.) My life is still filled with
pain and conflict (which I believe is God's process for change
in all of us,) but now that pain & conflict leads me to the
Truth.
Thank God for Chuck Smith and this wonderful book.
Great for a basic Biblical primer on the Spirit.
I picked this one up after spending one semester in a Baptist/Dispensational/Calvinist-leaning Bible school (and promptly went elsewhere afterwards) -and I found it a breath of fresh air! Until one goes from charismatic circles that place no limit on God's power to a school that seems to fear even the most moderate expressions of the "charismata", it's hard to truly fathom the differences in the "lenses" whith which we bring to God's truth. Some have felt that Chuck Smith, due to his opposition to extreme "Charismania" isn't even charismatic himself. Let me tell you, Chuck Smith believes in miracles- this book is proof! You have to have been where I have been to see that reality.
It's great to know in a world where the current march towards Baptistic/Calvinistic theology, which threatens to leave the church holding to no higher level of faith than the unbelieving culture around us, there are still solid, Bible-believing men such as Pastor Chuck willing to hold to the truths of the "power" that ignites the church to do the work of God. Read his accounts of miracles he himself has encountered. Read what the Bible says about the work of the Spirit in your life -and be encouraged.
This would have been 5 stars, if not for a "tangent" that Pastor Chuck goes into about the "end times." Also, I disagree with his assertion that we "don't become more like Christ by imitation". But other than that, I would much rather have people reading this than a lot of theologies out there. For deeper exploration of Biblical truths on the Spirit, read Clark Pinnock or Gordon Fee. For a great primer on the Spirit, get this. Well worth it!
The Holy Spirit is real...the Bible tells me so.
So many people either take the Holy Spirit too lightly, in that they would believe that He is not working today, or they go wild and misrepresent what God is truly doing at a specific place and time. Chuck Smith gives the biblical description of the Holy Spirit and how He is moving today, even in and through your life.
