Amazon.com Review
Get ready for hours of fun, creative play with this MEGA MagNext building system. A collection of metal balls and plastic pieces with magnetic connectors helps kids understand magnetism, sharpen problem solving skills, and build imagination. With over 100 pieces, this system provides endless construction projects for kids aged six and up. Small parts make this set inappropriate for small children who need constant supervision.

Just open the convenient case, take the pieces out of their plastic holders, and you and your child are ready for the fun to begin. A single page of illustrated instructions offers some construction suggestions and shows how to use the mX logo to figure out the polarity of magnetic connectors.
The carrying case converts to a platform for construction that can be arranged in several ways, allowing inventions to hang in the air or climb up and down a slanted platform. Several compartments help keep small parts from getting lost when the set is not in use.
Colorful, Easy-to-Combine Pieces
Plastic pieces in red, blue, orange, lime green, and gray combine with shiny silver balls to make bold, colorful creations. A mixture of square and triangular base pieces increases the geometric possibilities of this system, while special pieces that snap into the middle of those base pieces allow the addition of interesting features. Translucent faces can be snapped on for a smooth look, and snap-in connectors that spin or hinge add movement to favorite creations.
We found that the pieces were durable and easy to handle. Both assembly and deconstruction came naturally, making it easy to begin new projects.
Encourage Creativity
Innovation and creative thinking come naturally to children, and building toys stimulate their desire to create new things and explore the world around them. With the MagNext system, kids can choose between recreating the things they see each day, like houses and vehicles, and inventing entirely new machines.
MagNext also offers a hands-on way to explore geometry and magnetism. The only downside we found with this building system was that metal balls occasionally escaped off of smooth tables or across hardwood floors. Playing on carpet or being careful to store the balls in the carrying case when they weren't in use quickly solved this problem.
Since there are plenty of pieces for simultaneous construction projects, this set is perfect for cooperative play or a single child with a huge imagination. It can be combined with other MagNext systems, increasing building possibilities and adding to the fun.

From the Manufacturer
The Magnext 360 Degree Case is a slick and revolutionary building platform that gives free reign to your building powers. What makes this case so cool is that you can set it up absolutely anywhere and build solid and imaginative structures on and around it. Like a briefcase with a supporting frame, the 360 degree case opens such that you may set it at any angle you desire, setting up two building bases. Whether you are building from the supporting frame and handle, on which you may insert rods for dangling and swinging effects, or building off the bases, the 360 degree case offers multiple platforms for versatility, stability and total control. Build on top, on the side and even underneath the case with lots of suspended and swinging designs. Furthermore, because of its stable and compact size, you may build virtually anywhere, even in a moving car, as the case boasts convenient storage areas, in which falling parts are easily contained. Also, the magnext 360degree case is a perfect platform upon which two people can build together without hindrance, each designing from their respective bases and connecting if desired. After building, the magnext 360degree case acts as an ideal display stage for your designs, of which you can show off theatrically. Along with the standard tri, quad and dual bars, special parts that come with the magnext 360 degree case include square and triangle panels, square panel hinges with effective clear finishing, double axis and chains and spinners. It is ideal for children above 6 years.
Customer Reviews
This toy is just plain great!
I purchased this toy as a birthday present for my child. He is a creative little guy who loves to build things and take things apart and then build again. What is great about the 100 count MagnaCase is that is allows him to do just that. There are no instructions for him to build a boat or a plane, he has the ability to build whatever he wants and we try to encourage that kind of creativity in him. I recommend this toy to anyone considering purchasing it as it has brought much enjoyment to my son and myself. (good quality time together)
Overall Rating: 5 Stars
great for travel
i bought it for my nephew and he never goes in the car or airplane without it. the case is small enough to fit into a back pack yet inside it has many different parts to play for hours. the parts connect to the case by magnets so that you do not lose any smaller pieces. overall, it is a great value for the money and definitely a must have for creative kids who love to build!
Great fun, but no directions!!
Magnext is a fun product, my son enjoys playing with the few sets he has and loves to make big space stations and crash in to them (breaking them), and then build it right back up again.
The only thing he is bummed about is that he really wanted to make some of the designs on the box. He tried by himself but couldn't figure it out, so I helped him. Two of the figures on the box are make-able, but not useable, and a third one is very deceptive.
First, the balancing beam on the top isn't structurally sound enough to hold both of those figures because of the small red brace, that actually holds the beam. It doesn't "click" into place, or "snap," or anything. It merely slides of the top, making it impossible to use as a crane or balance two objects with dissimilar weights.
Second, the MOST deceptive, is the cube that is being spun in the picture. After 7 minutes of figuring out what it was, how to build it, building it, and it falling over, I spent another 6 minutes figuring out different ways it could be supported properly without getting in the way of the spinning cube. If you do get it built, and it spins, you must be gentle and make sure it doesn't break your structure in addition to it not moving up the pole or else it will hit your structure -- and break it.
Third, the ball and chain idea that is happening on the picture requires an extra ball be placed on the stick. Make sure to really jam that stick in there too, it's very difficult.
Fourthly, there are no directions for building anything but basic shapes, which could possibly be that they manufacturer wants children to expand it with their own imagination. Doesn't matter either way, if you put something on the cover, you should back it up with directions.
I would like to point out that the product is fun and you can be very creative. The more you play with it, the better and more frequently you come up with something new to build. After 3 weeks we're still having fun at least an hour or more a day. The packing is deceptive, and the case it comes with it only good to store stuff in (even though a plastic container with a lid would be even better and suitable for additional parts).
I recommend buying the cardboard boxes and putting the pieces in a plastic container with lid. You'll get more pieces and have better storage.
