Product Description

When the word cheese is mentioned, most of us immediately think of France. We can't help it; it's a knee-jerk reaction. As excellent as are the hundreds of cheeses that originate from all corners of the globe, France is always the first country the comes to mind when discussing cheesemaking.

Our French Cheese Assortment captures a good bit of French cheese culture with the four cheeses listed below.

  • Chevre by Couturier: This classic French goat cheese is quite fresh and spreadable. Formed in the shape of a log, enjoy this cheese on salads, as a snack, or with fruit for dessert. (4 oz)
  • Camembert: This famous soft-ripened cheese from Normandie has a creamy interior beneath a fluffy (and edible) white rind. (8.8 oz)
  • Tomme Brebis by Agour: From the Pyrennes region of France, this Basque cheese has a delicate bouquet, fruity aroma and slightly sweet flavor. Also known as Ossau-Iraty, it is made from 100% sheep's milk. (8 oz)
  • Gruyère de Comté: Created by local villagers in alpine dairies called "Fruiteries", its milk comes only from Montbeliarde and Tachete de L'est cows. Each 70+ pound wheel of Comté is aged for at least six months, resulting in a sweet and nutty masterpiece. (8 oz)

I Love French Cheese!5
As much as my family and I love cheese from Italy and Spain, we love French cheese more. France is a country that produces more than 100 cheeses, so it must have been difficult to choose only four for this assortment, but in my opinion, four of the very best were chosen.

We are all watching our weight at my house, so we eat a lot of salads. While cheese is definitely not a "diet food," a little in a salad goes a long way, especially when you're using Buche Chevre. My children love it on crackers as well.

My wife and I reserved the chaource and the epoisses for a "wine and cheese" party, but believe me, they are so wonderful and so special, you'll be tempted to eat them anytime, party or not.

The Gruyère de Comté is just so special I can't really find words to describe it. It's rich. It's creamy. It's delectable. We often eat it as a dessert cheese. Yes, it's really that good!

If you're looking for a special gift, you can't go wrong with this French Cheese Assortment. These are four of the finest cheese France has ever produced.

Excellent cheese5
The service from iGourmet is impeccable

Everything arrived in perfect condition i.e. ripe (and therefore "stinky" just like it should be!!)

The Styrofoam packaging was the perfect vessel for delivery; the cheese arrived "alive" from not being over chilled.

I have not had cheese of this quality outside France, and this is the first time I have found "perfect" cheese in the US.

If you like top quality "stinky" cheese this is for you.........

Excellent cheeses, ok service5
The French cheese assortment is amazing. A selection of cheeses of a quality you cannot easily come by unless you have a great specialty gourmet store nearby. The Saint Andre is not my favorite type of cheese, but it is good on a nice loaf of crusty bread. The other cheeses in the selection are outstanding and I have received rave reviews from everyone I have served them to. Only negative is that they came extremely hot (even though they were in a cooler-type box with an ice pack that I assume had at one time been cold) and the softer cheeses were really melted. They still tasted great, but weren't as nice for presentation.
