My little boy loved it!
My 3 year-old loves transformers. This one was actually easy enough for my husband & I to figure out.

Good toy for those who're new to Transformers.
First of all, I'd like people to know that I'm an adult who has been a fan of the Transformers franchise since the '80's, but I understand that many adults buy their children these toys, so I'm not writing for fans exclusively.

I'll start off by saying that this is a good toy to own. It's a good sized figure with very few parts that can fall off with excessive force. And there're no small parts for children to choke on (provided one part of the toy stays intact while the child plays with it - therefore, I can only recommend it to children who are aware not to put play things in their mouths). It's likeness to the character in the cartoon is very close. The toy is also very poseable. It's pretty fun to play with too.

Now here's the deal...

The only part that can fall off with too much force is the small bottom portion of the power mace with the hinge. It's understandable how someone could use excessive force to get the plane's tail to transform into the mace. I had problems with it until I figured out that in order for the spring loaded mechanism inside the mace to work, the mace MUST be in the figure's hand and then you hit the little button on the bottom of the mace.

I'll be a bit more descriptive, so people can understand what I'm talking about...

The mace has two buttons to activate the power mace.

1. Button one is inside the attachment peg for the mace that is used to attach onto the turrets of the "turbolasers" inside the claws of the robot figure.

2. Button two is on the very tip of the bottom of the mace.

The instruction booklet will not mention this to you. So...

Step 1: After transforming Lugnut into robot mode, the detached plane tail should be attached onto one of the "turbolasers" inside the character's claws.

Step 2: Gently push the button on the bottom of the tail, and the spring loaded mechanism will spring the outer shell of the thrusters with the tail fins out to form the mace.

Other than that, the glitch this toy has are loose joints. To me it's not a big deal.

Another warning is that the screws can be loose. I had to go get a small screwdriver to tighten up the screws. Again it's no big deal. Even with some loose screws, the toy works fine.

One last issue is the cockpit, the two pieces that split open in robot mode to form Lugnut's chest, (because of a spring loaded mechanism as part of their "Mechanized Auto-Conversion" gimmick) doesn't always want to snap into place in plane mode and stay that way. So occasionally, one half of the cockpit may split open and retract in plane mode. I just recently found out why the cockpit splits open. The screws are loose. Tighten the two screws just behind the cockpit on the right side of the body of the plane and you should be fine. It'll still split open just a hair, but one side of the cockpit will not spring open or something of this nature.

I also think it's very easy to transform. In my opinion, kids will have a tougher time transforming Michael Bay's Transformers the Movie toys, than this one. Although I do recommend an adult supervise a child who's having a hard time to get something to work correctly, just in case.

Good addition to collection
This was a good figure to add to my collection of the toys from the animated series. I was able to find it for less on Amazon than at the big box stores, even though it can be found fairly easily pretty much anywhere. Good toy, not one of the more prominent characters, but it is a good addition to any collection.
