The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew.

Totally handy little gadget for espresso!
This simple gadget makes pretty good espresso. It's not the creamy espresso that the $500 machine I used to have made, but I really don't care. This thing doesn't require cleaning with a toothbrush. It doesn't require high-maintenance- it basically requires NO maintenance and makes a serviceable espresso- better than the small coffeehouse down the street! This has allowed me to keep my latte habit despite the tougher enconomy and not feel like I've made too much of a sacrifice!

Coffee and more
This product is really fantastic, but though it is easy to use, I will admit there is a learning curve. First though, this thing does not make espresso, it makes a coffee concentrate that is quite tasty or useful in its own right, but it is not espresso and lacks the crema you would get from a high pressure machine. That said, besides coffee I have actually used this as a wonderful cooking extraction tool as well, made my own (albeit watery) hot sauce, vegetable stock from the peelings of beets and celeriac, etc. Also can be used for some teas, as long as the tea is fine ground or you pre-moisten it a bit so the water does not drain out too fast. The control you have is great, I am a home coffee roaster and this allows me to get the most out of my fresh roasted beans (as long as they have set the requisite 8 to 12 hours at least, or else toe Co2 causes me on heck of an overfoam). It is very quick, and very easy to clean up, heating water might be an issue, but I use one of those digital kettles so i always have water at the proper temperature range (which is not the 175 the aeropress recommends in my opinion, but the proper 195 or so)

either way this is a great device, the concentrate is great for cooking as well.
