Editorial Reviews
Review
“There are dozens of these stunningly illustrated pocket guides to nature. They easily fit in a shirt pocket with space left for note paper and pen. While you won’t want to discard your bulky bird, flower, tree, etc. books, these are ideal casual identification guides. In addition to the illustrations, there is enough descriptive material on each species to key in on and then follow- up when it is convenient to scour the books for greater details and confirmation. If we ran a store that catered to outdoor enthusiasts, we’d sure have some of these in the rack.”
“Nature lovers may want to look into an expanding series of pocket guides form Waterford Press. The Pocket naturalist series has something for everyone’s backyard. The laminated foldouts feature p to 150 items per guide on topics such as urban wildlife, backyard, birds, pond life, the night sky, and wildflowers. There are also regional, state and city guides for even more specific information. Each water-and-dirt-resistant guide sells for $5.95.”

Customer Reviews
Helpful, not comprehensive
On my visit to Costa Rica, this was helpful in identifying butterflies and moths, of which there are many, many species. This laminated card contains many of those I saw, but, of course, was far from a comprehensive guide. It is sturdy and fits easily in a backpack.
Excellent, lightweight, handy
You get what you buy, and this is as advertised. People that complain about being surprised they aren't holding a 300-page field guide in their hands when they receive this are apparently unable to read the clear description on this page.
Excellent, lightweight, and exactly what it says it is.
Pocket guide
Not worth the money. It is laminated which is good, but just a little fold out guide with pictures.
