Product Description

Updated with information from Ireland's Official Mapping Agencies, this practical atlas details all primary motorways—including the M1 Toll Drogheda bypass—along with city plans for Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Killarney, Laoghaire, Limerick, Londonderry, Sligo, and Waterford. AA-approved camping sites and AA-recommended golf courses, parking garages, and picnic spots are also identified. An easy-to-read index featuring 3,500 locations; a map legend in English, Gaelic, French, and German; and helpful port plans and ferry routes complete this comprehensive resource.

Good Detail Maps5
The book is a detailed breakdown of Ireland. New roads to be opened are included with expected completion dates. Area attractions are also listed. If you are looking for the small town your ancestors came from, it will be on the map. The only thing I would improve is to include a large detailed "whole" map of Ireland. Distances are given in miles and metric. I had used an edition of this on a trip to Ireland over 10 years ago and with a new trip pending, this was a book I had to get.

Prelim Review4
I will first comment that I have not yet used this atlas in Ireland so I presume information to be accurate. I ordered this as an extra item to the two fold-out maps I was primarily interested in to qualify for free shipping, but will be leaving the maps behind. The scale (1:200,000 or 1" = 3.16 miles) is 2x the scale of the better of the two fold-out maps (Michelen Ireland #712). I will be using it both for driving and for reference in traveling by bus/train. At 8-1/4" x 11-5/8" x 1/4" thick it fits nicely in the outer sleeve of my backpack. I find the Michelen Ireland #712 fold-out map, while a nicely detailed map, somewhat thick and cumbersome to fold. This bound atlas handles nicely.

Extremely Helpful Road Atlas Ireland5
My husband and I recently flew to Dublin, Ireland for a wedding in the Westport area. The drive from Dublin to Westport takes 3.5 hours, and we did not get lost once, thanks to this helpful atlas. We also used this atlas to plan our side trips and found our destinations easily. The best side trip? Go to Ashford Castle in Cong, where the movie, "The Quiet Man" was filmed. Before you plan your trip to Ireland, take this Atlas with you and make sure you drive on the left side of the road.
