From the Publisher
On an isolated Greek island, a World War I fighter plane attacks a modern U.S. Air Force base...a mysterious saboteur preys on an American scientific expedition...and Dirk plays a deadly game of hunter and hunted with the elusive head of an international smuggling ring.
Dirk Pitt, intrepid hero of Clive Cussler's smash bestsellers Dragon, Sahara, and Inca Gold, is hot on the trail of a mammoth drug conspiracy controlled by a missing Nazi war criminal. On land and in the depths of the Aegean, Pitt troubleshoots his way through desperate adventures!
About the Author
Clive Cussler's life nearly parallels that of his hero, Dirk Pitt®. Whether searching for lost aircraft or leading expeditions to find famous shipwrecks, he has garnered an amazing record of success. With his NUMA crew of volunteers, Cussler has discovered more than sixty lost ships of historic significance, including the long-lost Confederate submarine Hunley. Like Pitt, Cussler collects classic automobiles. His collection features eighty examples of custom coachwork and is one of the finest to be found anywhere. Cussler divides his time between the deserts of Arizona and the mountains of Colorado.
Customer Reviews
I enjoyed it!
This was the first Cussler book I've read. (Just finished it last night.) Though not a work of classic literature, I throughly enjoyed the ride! Thinking that the story was going to be about treasure hunting off the coast of Greece, I was very pleasantly surprised to find an action\thriller that focused on a former Nazi and heroin smuggling. Can't wait to get to Iceberg.
Excellent Book!
Nobody writes em like Clive Cussler...sort of like James Bond meets Jacque Cousteau. Excellent book for history and science lovers...and there is always a twist...can you spot Clive Cussler's character in the book? I love that part...he always inserts himself into his work. I know of no other author who does that. Hope you enjoy the read! This is my 2nd time around :o)
Charlie Chan with a wet suit
This is a remake of the 1930's Charlie Chan mysteries, right down to the last chapter where Dirk Pitt explains how he solved the mystery. Everything is there except the drawing room.
This is a true action novel, complete with misdirection, the indestructible Dirk Pitt, bad guys who turn out to be good guys (and vice versa), and dime novel dialogue. However, if you have time to waste, it's a good time-waster!
