A native of North Carolina, Darwin Porter was a bureau chief for the Miami Herald when he was 21, and later worked in television advertising. A veteran travel writer, he is the author of numerous best-selling Frommer’s guides, including those to the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean.
