Customer Reviews
Excellent!
Although now appearing in the new cover, this is in fact still Lonely Planet's old Fijian Phrasebook - fortunately!
As such, it not only gives you plenty of useful phrases arranged thematically, but a very thorough introduction to Fijian grammar. This is essential to those planning to actually learn the language, something that may well be useful if you fall in love with the country and decide to stay longer than most holidaymakers.
If you are on a short holiday, you may be relieved to hear that English is widely spoken in Fiji - but trying a few local phrases always goes down well.
The best resource for quick learning
Dr. Geraghty is the world's leading linguist of Fiji's 300 indigenous regional dialects, and this book is a simple, straightforward, useful introduction to any traveler.
