About the Author
Originally an actor, Anne studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California, and went on to perform with such companies as Theatre Beyond Words and Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia. After spending several years singing and dancing her way across North America, she turned to writing children's literature, indulging a lifelong love of children's books. Now a freelance writer and editor, Anne lives in Toronto, Ontario, with her husband, where she reads, gardens, and spins her stories.

A new season In September, when the new season's yams are ready, the Igbo hold a harvest festival called Ikeji. During the festival, they give thanks to the yam spirit, Ihejioku, for a successful harvest. Many towns gather for the festival. Each one presents a dance or a piece of music, and a panel of judges chooses the best performances.
