IPods Hit the Sistine Chapel Prepare to see visitors fiddling with their iPods at St. Peter's Basilica and punching buttons on their cellphones at major U.S. museums this spring. They're not breaking the rules -- they're taking advantage of high-tech audio tours, which have been gaining ground in the museum world in recent months. The services let users either download and play an audio tour on an MP3 player or dial a special number to hear a narrated tour on a cellphone. Artineraries, last week launched a digital tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. The tour -- which is not affiliated in any way with the Vatican -- is narrated by Sister Wendy Beckett, who hosted a popular PBS series on art history. --Wall Street Journal, JACOB HALE RUSSELL

What a way to travel
This time (the third time) when I visited the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, I had my narrated tour in my pocket (actually on my iPod) and could take my time and see what I wanted to see and linger for as long as I wanted without having a guide shoushing me and 20 others along on a tight schedule. Sister Wendy's description of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is wonderful. I even enjoy listening to it as I look at a picture of the ceiling. Audio tours are the way to go!
