Sad, dark, heart wrenching, funny, ambitious, and heart warming. This book raised a lot of controversy at its release. The fine people of Limerick took offense to the picture painted of their town, fearing it would drive people away from visiting. It did the opposite for me. I rearranged my itinerary to include Limerick. So, don't hate Frank too much folks!

I am a sucker for historical fiction with a little romance mixed in. This novel gives you the strong sense of devastation felt during the "famine years", while introducing you to an even stronger sense of a family's love and a family's desire to survive no matter what.

As in Delaney's other novels, it takes a little effort to adjust to his writng style, changing perspectives quickly and at times, often. Getting past that, you are in for a great story about Ireland and her history. This novel is informative, gripping, entertaining.

A quick glance into to all that Ireland has to offer with great pictures and historical facts strewn throughout. This book covers all the practical information such as local currency, transportation, safety, banks and other businesses hours, and customs.

Simplicity at it's best. Geared toward the budget minded.
