Product Description

The Giro Advantage 2 Aero Helmet made its debut in the 2006 Tour de France. The Giro Advantage 2 is a CPSC compliant evolution of Giro's famed Advantage model, and was developed with countless wind tunnel hours and the feedback of several elite riders over the last three years. The Giro Advantage 2 is truly a top-level race product. In wind tunnel sessions with Lance Armstrong and other elite riders, the Advantage 2's performance was benchmarked against rival designs and Giro's own aerodynamic fairings (helmets with no impact absorbing layer). The results show that the Advantage 2's design produced remarkably similar drag numbers to previous designs, and is among the fastest of designs tested. The Giro Advantage 2 was honed to a razor's steely perfection in the heat of elite competition. If you need a helmet that slices the wind, slashes your time, and is on the cutting edge of aerodynamic performance then the Giro Advantage 2 is the aero helmet for you.

Tight, Flimsy, but Fast!4
Sizing runs a little small, making it hard to put on. Likewise, since tight going on, it's hard on the ears. The flaps are very weak at the front, tore one side about 1/4" only the 2nd time I put it on. Maybe Giro beefed this area up on the 2009 model? Once on, very comfortable and venting was good on a hot 96 degree day. Did NOT find it restricted hearing. Actually quieter due to less wind noise since this helmet definitely helps your noggin slip through the air!

Great helmet, highly recommend5
After quite a bit of research, my wife and I bought this helmet for the second half of our triathlon season this year. As pointed out in another review, it takes some practice to get on and off, but now we are both very fast in our transition and you can hear the helmet slicing through the wind. Fit and comfort have been very good for us both. Bear in mind, aero helmets are only an advantage if you keep your head up and looking forward while in the aero position on your tri bike. If you tend to rest on straight stretches of road by looking down at your front wheel to allow your neck muscles a break, then you may want to stay with a traditional road helmet as an aero helmet would have you sticking the back end up into the air actually creating a Giro DISadvantage 2 helmet. If that's the case, you may want to look at Lazer's new aero helmet as they have done some things to make both positions more aero, but I've only seen the marketing, I haven't had any experiences with it.

Giro Advantage 2 rocks5
I've already raced with this helmet in several triathlons, and it's been excellent. Fits just right and the padding is comfortable. I'm excited to use it for my upcoming 1/2 and Full Ironman races. Thanks, Giro!
