I love PIXAR. I admire PIXAR. I pledge my undying devotion to PIXAR. Their movies have heart. Their movies are intelligent. Their movies are unbridled fun, soaring joy. Their movies are masterpieces.

A mini-retreat, a beautiful piece of reflective art. The simple transcendent images and sounds reveal how all creation is a magnificent holy valentine.

Gandhi is an action hero, just not the type of action that movies are used to. So that this film captures the passion and the importance of his life in such a compelling manner makes it one of the best biopics of all time.

This movie was so good, the acting, the script, the direction, it made me ache. Anyone who has had a loved one succumb to Alzheimers will find this a reflective work of great nuance and subtle beauty.

A great popcorn blockbuster, very entertaining with the right amount of artistic integrity. I'll always cheer for J.J. Abrams and crew. Not only did this movie make me look forward to a sequel, but it made me interested in checking out older Star Trek movies so I can learn the mythos.

Cinderella will be 60 years old next year, but after watching this movie for the first time since my childhood I can report that the magic holds up well. And my boys were mesmerized through it too. The comedy of Gus and Jaq is still great. The bonus features are all over the map: ESPN? Princess Dance Party? And then the fascinating 9 Old Men.

Amazing detective story. I will have to watch it again to appreciate it to it fullest, but so many great lines. Here's one of my favorites: "A crippled newsie took 'em away from him. I made him give 'em back."

This movie tries to blend film noir with women's cinema, with mixed results. The film noir is pretty damn good, certainly better than you're expecting, from the awesome intro to the twist at the end that is actually surprising. But the "dramatic" moments of a couple's separation and losing a child just seem to hit the wrong emotional notes.

It's a shame, because it could have been a GREAT movie. There is a lot of good things about it and its very funny. But ultimately, the crude language (why did they have to mar the ending?) reaches the point where the movie can't be recommended. My favorite parts though? the music and Maya Rudolph.

Creepy, mysterious and bizarre. Which here, is a really good thing. Wondrously creative envisioning of a tantalizing, poisonous world. But my library has it besides Pocahontas and Dora the Explorer with their kids' dvd's. Groan.

Visually creative and clever dialogue-a expansion of Seuss' work that is as commendable as it is enjoyable, with one big exception: The kangaroo's character being a vigilante mom. Not cool when the joey says "No Mom!"

What elevates this above your typical insipid teen comedy? Tina Fey's smart, heartfelt script that tackles a problem so common in our schools it's usually written off as just "how it is with girls" and in addressing it, draws out some real laughs. Ms. Lohan does a fine job in the role, but in life, is even more depressing after seeing this movie.

Positively shocking for 1959. But the date of the movie also is responsible for very surprising and odd courtroom levity about a murder/rape case and the word "panties." It is interesting to see how much "The Practice" and other courtroom dramas borrow from this movie.

A very interesting character ensemble, even if there are characters that don't quite fit into the ensemble. Lily Tomlin and Ronee Blakely inject their roles with perfect emotion. And "I'm Easy" will probably get stuck in your head for a few days.

And in the role of Sneering Grumpy Old Man who Learns a Better Way: Clint Eastwood. I laugh when I think how similar this movie is to "Up"

First off, I remain immune to and even baffled by Annette Benning's "charms". Secondly, Aaron Sorkin's writing is always smart (I am craving Sports Night just thinking about it) but when he does politics, he veers so far left it's absurd. I particularly enjoyed the scene with the Republicans plotting-all old, bald, or old and bald.

What we can learn from this movie: A few days in the sex trafficking business will leave a 17 year old girl no less giggly than before. Seriously, terribly written exposition and resolution (Can I carry your luggage for you?) But the meat of the movie is the swift meted justice, and that was very satisfactory.

Witness the musical slowly being killed by this Mary Poppins clone. I thought I was going to die when the word Intermission came on the screen. What!?!?! I thought the movie was almost DONE! Waaaaay too long.

I would have liked it a lot better if it was "Last Chance Kate" and the focus was shifted. Emma Thompson is one those actors I wish they would cast in everything. And when she has to accept a role in material below her talent, she still manages to rise above it and deliver a good performance.
