Fantastic multi-cultural cd5
This is just a great 'world music' cd for children (& adults too as my husband & I love this cd as well). It touches on what I would assume to be classic folk songs or just songs associated with specific countries around the world. So far we have had great luck googling the song lyrics in both English & their native languages. If you don't already know these songs it will introduce your family to some great music that, frankly, maybe we all should know.

Multi-lingual Gem5
My daughter grew up with Dora, and the character will always have a special place in our home. However, lately, with Viacom's campaign of Dora over-saturation-marketing, we've frankly been put off, and haven't bought any new items in over a year.

So I was at a major retailer (think big blue box) looking for a stocking stuffer, when I spotted this. I bought it more for the international songs, than for Dora.

We were all extremely surprised at the production values of the CD. Even in character, these singers really can sing. Anyone know who they are? (they're not listed on the packaging) And, of course, the addition of the celebrity guest singers is fun. All the songs have great backup accompaniment. "De Colores" is beautiful and really upbeat. "Funiculi Funicula" is like a brief lesson in music appreciation (I won't say who, but someone "swipes" the accordion). "Jambo" and "Ni Hao My Friends" were big hits with my kids, who love repeating the foreign language words in the songs. And although many of the songs on the CD are English-foreign language blends to varying degrees, I loved that "Alouette" is unashamedly 100% sung in French. It may be the best song of all on the CD.

This one's a keeper. Pick it up. Yours kids will thank you, and you may find yourself singing along as well.

what about the lyrics?4
Would it have killed them to include lyrics? It's basically a nice compilation, but impossible for kids to sing along unless they make up incorrect lyrics. No kid would be familiar with this group of songs and already know the lyrics.
