Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
The authors, business writers (e.g, Finding Your Perfect Work, Tarcher, 1998) and popular hosts of a radio and a TV show, revise and expand this fifth edition of a super resource that responds to the rapidly increasing work-at-home population, estimated at over seven and a half million. Now tightly integrated with Internet resources, the book covers many highly useful topics, including choosing at-home work as a way of life, outfitting and equipping a home office, managing an office and oneself while working at home, and how to price a product or service and sell the home business. The section on legal advice regarding taxes, insurance, liability, and permits is alone worth the purchase for anyone considering or already involved in making a living from home. With increasing access to information via the Internet and rapidly evolving electronic commerce, more people are taking the plunge and leaving the nine-to-five routine. A definite purchase for all libraries, especially public libraries.ADale F. Farris, Groves, TX

Customer Reviews
The ESSENTIAL desk reference for those who work at home.
Several years ago, when it looked like my dream of working from my home could become reality, I picked up this book. (Then in its third edition.) It became my instruction manual for making the transition from small cubicle in a very large office building to a large (bedroom sized) office in my smallish home. Everything you need is there, from the philosophical (how do I live and work under the same roof?) to the practical (do I need a variance in my community), from the business of business (how do I attract business?), to the work of work (how do I organize all this clutter?). Its like a friendly office manager that knows everything. The fourth edition is technologically updated, and every bit as helpful. Even now that my business is somewhat established, I find the book especially useful as a first-place-to-look-reference for "do I need to worry about this" type questions.
There are only two pieces of advise I can give those of you contemplating working from home: spend all your money on a comfortable office chair, and buy this book.
Tells You What You Need To Know About Working From Home
If you want an all-in-one comprehensive work at home reference this is the book to buy. It contains useful information necessary for beginning and experience home workers. Almost everything you must consider before starting or operating your own self-employment venture is included. Covers topics such as marketing, finance, insurance, taxes, legal matters, motivation, organization, setting goals, time management, psychology, equipment and family considerations. Includes checklists, worksheets, diagrams, money saving tips, resources and interviews of people who work at home for a living. I thought this book was easy to read and understand. I can see why Paul and Sarah Edwards are considered experts on the subject of working from home.
Outstanding Book for Anyone Wanting to Work From Home!
Although there weren't as many individual business ideas in this book as I had hoped, this book was an amazing addition to my library. It helped me understand everything from the legal aspects of starting a business, to finding financing to setting up my office. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is just starting out in a home based business or who is bringing their work home from the office!
