Amazing...
Isn't it amazing how many of these nich compilations Trojan has released over the years? Mod reggae, skinhead reggae, history of ska... next they'll have the hard mod reggae and the suedehead reggae... How many of these have repeated tracks?
It doesn't cheapen the comps though, as the old singles are hard to come by (especially for us in the States). Some great tracks here, my favorite is the first track off disc two (Qua Kue Shut). There's some embarrasing tracks on here too, case in point, Funky Chicken...
Real Classic Skinhead Music
This box set of songs remind me of the Trojan Labeled Reggae that I used to hear my Skinhead cousins listen to on Vinyl when I was little. This is a great collection of songs which I've forced many of people who thought I was a nazi because of my bald head to listen to and enjoy. There are a few goofy tracks, like Funky Chicken, or Funky Duck, or even the track about the Lockness Monster?!? But it's all good. Buy it!
Review of Trojan Skinhead Box Set by: Buffalo Skin Wichita,Kansas
The Skinhead Trojan Box Set is really good. This set consists of three cds and all the various artists have put out music on the Trojan label at one time or another. My favorite disc of the three, is disc 3.There is alot of good music to listen to in this set.The Charmers,The Creations,The Versatiles,Derrick Morgan,Andy Capp,The Hot Rod All Stars,Symarip,Joe The Boss,The Viceroys,& many more. The songs in this set are all pretty much reggae, there is some ska in this set aswell. This box set is made up of old songs that were favored by the working class skins in Britain. However these songs were also enjoyed by The Mods & The Rudeboys aswell.I won't give you a history lesson on this subject, because once I start writing it will be hard to stop.I will tell you that this set is definately worth buying.Infact it would be hard to find some of the music that is in the box set.So if you are a skinhead or you just like reggae, buy it!! It is well worth the money,& dont forget to check out all the other Trojan Box sets that are available through Amazon.com
