About the Author
Sherlock Perry Blanchard is a fourteen-year-old Basset Hound. He has lived in Florida, Georgia, Texas and North Carolina, and has traveled extensively in most of the Southern states. Sherlock's original dream was to become a TV repairman. He signed up for a TV repair correspondence course. In the first workbook exercise, the instructions were to "grasp the reiterater between your thumb and forefinger and gently pull over and out." Lacking an opposable thumb, he grabbed the reiterater with his teeth, and it shocked the zippy-tee-doo-dah out of him. He gave up TV repair on the spot (no pun intended) and made the fateful decision to become a writer and philosopher. His writings have concentrated on solving humankind's irritating problems; recording unusual observations of human and pet behavior; and journaling his many misadventures. OTHER LITERARY WORKS: Sherlock has a large collection of letters he has written to friends and relatives. This is his first published compilation.

A buffet of humorous dog vignettes
If you're a devoted dog lover--or even tolerant of the antics of dogs--you'll probably enjoy this book of amusing "letters" written by a dog to his relatives and friends. (Well, it was actually ghost written by his master.) Since most of the stories are 2 to 4 pages long, this makes a great bedside or bathroom book. The stories are in no particular order, so you can easily jump around or move on, depending on whether the story fits your mood or sense of humor.
The book is suitable for all ages. Pre-teens and teenages will probably snicker at the numerous stories with bathroom humor. I read several of the stories to my 91-year-old aunt who is mentally sharpe but bed-ridden in a nursing home. It was the first time I'd seen her laugh like that in years.
This is a great book to share or just keep lying around. It's well worth the modest price.
Bassets
Basset Hounds are very funny dogs in many ways. DEER AINT PEGGY is a very different book about the life and times of one basset. A must for anyone who owns or has owned a Basset Hound(s).
Looking at the world through a dog's eyes!
I found "Deer Aunt Peggy" to be a delightful book! It is easy to read (it's hard to put it down once you start reading it). I found it to be
entertaining and very funny! I especially enjoyed the story about "Bob gets the short straw." If you've ever had your dog look at you and you
wondered what he was thinking, this is the book for you! I highly recommend it to everyone! Ideal summer reading!
